Microsoft Studio

I worked as one of the designers for the Studio team at Microsoft as well as the social team. We focused primarily on consumer-facing products such as Surface, M365, Edge, Bing, and more. The work shown here is a compilation of some of the work I created with a team of designers, copywriters, producers, and agencies. Our aim is to challenge the current creative marketing strategies and to keep pushing Microsoft’s creative further. I worked on projects that involved seeing them through conceptual to execution phases. I worked on photoshoot planning and storyboards, social media, marketing assets that were both static and motion, and collaborative conceptual work with the team for new products that were set to release.

Microsoft Social Team

I worked closely with another designer, working on rebranding the Surface social page. We were both brought onto a new team in the Studio to help lead creative in Social media for Surface. We quickly realized that the Surface story and brand were not being clearly communicated on their Instagram, so we wanted to change this and make a guidance document to help keep the brand cohesive when it comes to anything social. My role was more focused on typography and motion elements.

Our research dealt with understanding our brand story and analyzing the competition to see where we were lacking and succeeding. We looked at our top competitors like Apple and Google as well as indirect competitors that we felt shared the same brand values. (Rimowa and Sonos.) We used our research to present back to stakeholders how we wish to execute our plan to tell a much more compelling story of the Surface brand on social.

My role focused more on how to better brand our type/ graphic treatments on social, by using the colors we have already and the type we were provided with to keep the Surface brand cohesive.

We created an International Women’s Day campaign for the talented women who work at Microsoft.

We worked on a campaign to create posts for International Women’s Day. We extended this for a month and got in contact with amazing Women working in Surface to tell their stories. It was both for the feed and stories so users can interact with them as well. We worked alongside an agency to help with copy for each post. We made sure to use our current guidance to create a sophisticated post to match our current brand.
